With an aim of uplifting the lives of the people of Thar, the Shahid Afridi Foudnation and Thar Foundation (TF) along with Sindh Engro Coal mining company (SECMC) signed an MOU to work together in areas of health, education and safe drinking water. Both the organizations will work together in establishing and running schools and hospitals in the region along with installation of safe drinking water infrastructures. The agreement stressed on all social uplift schemes to be run through professional organizations of health and education sectors.
In this regard, A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Chief Executive Ofiicer (CEO) of TF, Shamsuddin A. Sheikh and advisor to SAF, Zeeshan Afzal at a ceremony held in Karachi. The MoU was co-signed by SECMC president, Ghias Khan and SAF chief, Shahid Afridi. As per the collaboration between two entities, in health sector TF shall construct a 100-bed hospital in Islamkot to be managed by the Indus Hospital whereas SAF will sponsor the construction of as many RO plants as possible. TF also takes responsibility of building 8 schools, one each in Taulka of district Tharparkar that shall be run through The Citizen Foundation (TCF) where SAF has shown willingness to sponsor one of the TCF schools.
The CEO of TF, Shamsuddin Sheikh, at the ceremony said that TF ahs been established and founded by SECMC for the betterment of people of Tharparkar, the main purpose of which is to improve the educational, healthcare sectors along with sustainable interventions in field of livelihood, infrastructure, social preservation and disaster management. The chairman of SAF also conveyed the mission of his Foundation through this ceremony and called for donations to support his mission for a better Pakistan.
