Cricket For Change

The Punjab School – Lahore

The SAF team arrived in Lahore with the objective of promoting community cohesion by disseminating positive messages and inclusive perspectives that increase social tolerance and counter extremist narratives. However, it was observed that they were primarily focused on sports activities rather than emphasizing behavior, life skills, and coaching.
In order to rectify this, a team of reputable coaches certified by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was engaged to implement the planned activities of the CFC program from the outset of the camp. Although initially challenging to capture the attention of the SAF team, a series of engaging group exercises proved successful in setting the stage for their active participation.
The students under the guidance of the SAF team were enthusiastic and eager to learn something new. The school administration also demonstrated support and commitment by assigning relevant teachers to work with the SAF team. In total, 17 teachers and 45 students (20 boys and 25 girls) received training on life skills.
On the final day of the camp, Mr. Gur Paul, Public Diplomacy Officer, and Mr. Tanveer Ahmed, Culture Specialist, joined the team to encourage the students. All the trained students received kit bags and certificates upon the successful completion of the camp. The end line assessment of the students showed a visible improvement in their knowledge and practices. Overall, the SAF team's efforts in promoting community cohesion through the CFC program were successful, with positive outcomes observed in the knowledge and practices of the students.
