Earth Day Celebrations

To celebrate the spirit of Earth Day, Mr. Iqbal Afridi, Project Director SAF, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The drive was inaugurated a day earlier by Chairman SAF, Shahid Afridi at his residence by planting trees in Defence Housing Authority, Karachi. Due to its detrimental consequences, climate change is getting a worldwide spotlight. Karachi, being the industrial hub of Pakistan, is often found to be neglected when it comes to addressing issues pertaining to climate change and environment. There is an increased number of planned constructions, deteriorating sanitation facilities, mounting pressure of traffic topped up by air pollution. Keeping these grave circumstances under consideration, the Co-Team at SAF planned to create awareness about climate change through a tree plantation drive. Mr. Iqbal Afridi strategized and worked on the idea which was executed on Thursday. At the Business Centre, around 20 trees were planted by team members. The drive was applauded upon by the spectators lifting the entire ambiance and spirit of Earth Day. Chairman SAF, Mr. Shahid Afridi felt immense pleasure to be a part of this initiative and addressed the participants and said;

“These trees not only embellish our environment but also play its role in averting floods, famines, droughts, landslides and soil erosion etc. They also help in preserving ecological balance in nature. Our aim should be to keep our environment pollution-free for a fresh atmosphere.”

The event concluded on a positive note urging people to plant as many trees as possible. This would preserve the beauty and fragility of Earth and Mother Nature.
